The solution-focused therapy was developed by Steve de Shazer (1940–2005), and Insoo Kim Berg (1934–2007). This therapy focuses the client on the solution by increasing the positivity within the client in this way client will begin to see or divert his attention toward the solution due to which will increase his motivation and focus towards the goal or the task.

Solution-Focused practitioners create solutions by first creating a detailed description of how the client’s life will change once the problem has been solved or their situation has been improved to a level that the client is satisfied with. The therapist and the client then go over the client’s life experience and behavioral repertoire, looking for the resources they’ll need to co-create a practice.

What sort of question or tools are used in this therapy?

This therapy can be carried out in the following way:-

Present and future :-

While applying SFT always remember to talk to the client in the present language and always try to talk about the future or goals not about the past as we do not need past history because we are focusing our client on future goals.

Goal orientation:-

Try to ask those types of questions that can drive out the idea that what the client's future goals. If the therapist gets the knowledge about the client's goal then the therapist will start the miracle questions.

Miracle questions:-

For example, the therapist says to the client that one night you sleep and wake up and saw that every your problems are solved so what do you feel and what do you think how this change happens. After this try to ask the client about its past success and relate it with the present.

Scaling:-

Try to ask the client to answer his current situation on a 0 to 10 scale and ask different questions that at which scale he was at when he got success in the future.

Try to add those words that focuses the client towards the solution and motivate the client when he talks about the solution or focuses on that.

These are some of the points that are used while applying solution-focused therapy.
